I woke up one morning with a scene in my head. I don't know if I dreamt it or if it had simply chosen that morning to float to the surface. All I know is that, once it was there, it wouldn't leave me alone. Eventually, in an effort to free myself from it, I wrote it down. And so this story was born.

It has been with me ever since. Even when I tried to move on, to write other things, it would always be there in the back of my mind. And now I'm finally ready to share it with others. This is a bold move for me. My stories are like my children, and I'm a bit of an over-protective mother. While I know that I love them, and why, I'm not confident that anyone else will see what I do in these characters or the events that surround them. But it's either let it go free, or keep it locked in the basement, or in notebooks tucked away on my shelf. I'm opening the window - let's see if it can fly.
